Ash After
In the beginning. There was fire.
Burning the material of my own clothing became a kind of ritual. The flames are hypnotizing. From the ashes I made ink. A transformation of material that allows me to create new landscapes and surfaces. A feeling of freedom in today's world where nearly every inch has been explored and claimed.

The five-panel painting above is created with the use of the ash of burnt clothing and depicts the transformed global landscape from an aerial perspective. It portrays the genesis and eventual dissolution of the Earth and the universe. Illustrating how humanity has cultivated, altered, and distorted the Earth's surface, translating these actions into patterns. The first canvas depicts the Earth's formation and the emergence of the landscape and organisms. The second shows the arrival of water, animals, humans, along with their small settlements and agricultural organization. The third canvas reveals the modifications made to the Earth's surface in modern times, showing how scaling up, commercialization, and the plundering of the Earth leave their mark on the landscape. The fourth canvas addresses the consequences of this—how pollution and overpopulation further damage our planet, and how humanity is bringing about its own ruin. The final canvas focuses on the escape off humankind into space and how everything is absorbed into the cosmic soup—the black hole—which transforms everything and allows a fresh start. Are we beginning again at the very first panel?
